LOVE SCULPTURE BASED ENGAGEMENT PARTY

The happy couple wanted to have a special theme for their engagement party this past weekend. They based the decor of the party on the LOVE sculpture in NYC and Philadelphia.
We created for them a candy buffet with this in mind. The letters were purchased, glued and painted to replicate the amazing sculpture. This became the focal point of the table. Then we added all red candies in various jars around the centerpiece. Birch branches were placed in a vase with glass heart ornaments filled with red sugar crystals. We added the couples initials and personalized take out boxes so her guests can help themselves to the delicious treats! We placed a framed sign on each table with the message: "Life is Sweet, take a Treat...Hugs & Kisses from the Future Mr. & Mrs.", so their guests new the candy bar was the take home favor. Red makes for a very dramatic and striking look and overall we were very happy with the end result.

I was also asked to bake the cake for the event and searched online for any images of cakes based on this particular sculpture. This is the one I found...http://whippedbakeshop.com/blog/2009/11/making-a-philly-love-wedding-cake/
I set to replicate this cake with a few minor alterations. I handpainted the Brooklyn Bridge on the middle tier and eliminated any Philly reference from the original. I also purchased the wooden letters and glued and painted them for the topper rather than use gumpaste.

CHANEL PURSE CAKE

Did my first purse cake and I think it went fairly well. I was asked by my sister in law to do a cake for her grandmothers birthday. Rose is not your typical grandmother. God bless her she looks amazing and never goes anywhere with out her heels!! A chanel cake was the perfect choice for such a high class lady.
I started with an 8" round cake, layered and filled with vanilla buttercream. Then the top and bottom were cut at each edge in a straight line to leave the middle body of the purse. The ivory fondant was quilted with the edge rolling pin tool and then applied to the cake in pieces. I used parchment paper to trace the front, back and sides of the cake which I used as a template when cutting the fondant. The chain is from a real bag. (this in my opinion gave the cake it's real-like look! I sprayed the gold accent pieces with gold glitter spray which I like better than petal dust. Not too bad for my first try!! LOL
MINNIE MOUSE CAKE

Minnie Mouse cake made for a special little girls first birthday. Party was decorated in hot pink and zebra stripe mix patterns. I incorporated those colors into this beautiful three tiered cake. Cake consisted of top tier-chocolate cake with marshmallow filling: second tier - vanilla with chocolate chip filling and bottom tier Devils food with oreo cookies filling. I made the ears out of fondant and the hat shape was done using the Wilton sports ball pan. I finished the look with a zebra print table runner!! Cute and spunky at the same time. LOVED IT!
THOMAS THE TRAIN CAKE

I was asked to make a Thomas train cake for a very special boys 2nd birthday. Having a son who is a huge Thomas fan, I was all to familiar on how I wanted the cake to look. I purchased a Thomas train whistle that I used to put into the top tier cake as if it were coming out of a tunnel. The boulders were made out of grey fondant. Fondant hills and grass completed the look.
Cake was vanilla chip cake with nutella buttercream filling.

Tiffany Theme Dessert Table

This past weekend, we threw a surprise party for my mother's 50th birthday. We decided to go with a tiffany theme cake and dessert table and base the table decor on the tiffany blue color. We used a matching tiffany blue table cloth and based the table around the center Tiffany box cake. Behind the cake we used a tiffany bag as a holder for some branches that we hung tiffany blue stones from. Two cupcake liner topiary trees we made were placed on both ends of the table with a sign on each that read "50 & Fabulous...Happy Birthday."
We made a personalized happy birthday banner to match the colors and hung it from the front of the table. We added blue candy such as sixlets, vanilla tootsie rolls, rock candy and gum balls around the table in different jars as well as some vanilla meringue cookies and sugar cookies.
We then scattered the favors around the table. The favors were tiffany blue boxes with hershey kisses inside and decorated with white ribbon and a personalized label. The boxes were purchaed at http://www.beforetheidos.com/Tiffany_Blue_Favor_Box_Set_of_10_p/ee-tblbox.htm
The table was a big hit at the party and my mom loved it! :)
