LOVE SCULPTURE BASED ENGAGEMENT PARTY

The happy couple wanted to have a special theme for their engagement party this past weekend. They based the decor of the party on the LOVE sculpture in NYC and Philadelphia.
We created for them a candy buffet with this in mind. The letters were purchased, glued and painted to replicate the amazing sculpture. This became the focal point of the table. Then we added all red candies in various jars around the centerpiece. Birch branches were placed in a vase with glass heart ornaments filled with red sugar crystals. We added the couples initials and personalized take out boxes so her guests can help themselves to the delicious treats! We placed a framed sign on each table with the message: "Life is Sweet, take a Treat...Hugs & Kisses from the Future Mr. & Mrs.", so their guests new the candy bar was the take home favor. Red makes for a very dramatic and striking look and overall we were very happy with the end result.

I was also asked to bake the cake for the event and searched online for any images of cakes based on this particular sculpture. This is the one I found...http://whippedbakeshop.com/blog/2009/11/making-a-philly-love-wedding-cake/
I set to replicate this cake with a few minor alterations. I handpainted the Brooklyn Bridge on the middle tier and eliminated any Philly reference from the original. I also purchased the wooden letters and glued and painted them for the topper rather than use gumpaste.
