Minnie Mouse Cake and Dessert Table

Minnie Mouse Cake Dessert Table

This job was a very sweet one. Minnie Mouse is still holding strong and popular around little kids and I truly enjoyed making this cake. We created a three tiered cake decorated in black, pink and white. I used the sports ball cake pan to make the hat shape on top. I used only one half and then baked a regular 6" cake on the bottom with cannoli filling in between. The ears were made from gumpaste and adhered by creating slits on the side of the cake and "gluing" it with buttercream. Pink and white pindot gros grain ribbon completed the look.
We created a whole table display for the customer, complete with black and white dot tablecloth and Happy Birthday Banner I created dowloading the Disney Font. My partner had the hardest part of the job having to make 40 chocolate covered apples like the ones you buy in Disney World. These apples are first covered in caramel and then dipped in chocolate. Marshmallows are adhered with toothpicks to the top of the apples to give the look of ears. Once the chocolate has dried they are dipped again in white chocolate at the bottom only and then pink sprinkles and white chocolate circles are stuck on over the melted white chocolate. I used styrofoam cake circles covered in paper that I designed in Illustrator to display the apples. They came out absolutely adorable but were ALOT of work. Don't know how to answer the next customer looking for these apples again, LOL!!
